McDonalds Delivers With UberEats

McDonald’s Corporation has decided to go “all in” and adopt a delivery service model in around 3500 of their franchise locations. Effective immediately, McDonald’s customers will be able to order the full line offered by their local McDonalds and it will be delivered via UberEats. UberEats is an online food ordering and delivery service, a business unit of the wildly popular Uber ride-sharing online service, allowing consumers to order from any number of restaurants and have the food picked up at the local restaurant and delivered to your location. Anyone with a car that wants to work can sign up to be an UberEats driver. Uber eats drivers earn a commission on every delivery they make plus tips. Uber taxi drivers can also provide food delivery services via UberEats. Using GPS, a central computer optimizes the distance a delivery driver is from both the restaurant and the food customer’s location. The closest driver can accept or decline the delivery assignment and if they take the job promptly picks up the order and delivers it to the customer’s location that they find via GPS as well.

McDonald’s had recently done a test run of the UberEats service in a small number of Florida communities and was so impressed with the success of the service that they decided to roll the service out to 3500 locations across the country. The fast food service giant hopes that delivering their food directly to consumers will boost sales to include people that wouldn’t ordinarily go out to the restaurant.
